Celebrating Houndstooth

It's been a whole week since Alabama secured their 14th national championship and Gameday Style would like to honor the Crimson Tide with some houndstooth adoration.  I love the fact that an entire fan base has embraced a classic fabric pattern from a hat and practically turned it into one of their school colors!  The beloved Bear Bryant's famous houndstooth Trilby (some say Fedora, but technically it's a Trilby) hat...

Houndstooth has always been popular with Bama gals, but the fashion world took notice that it was a trend in the fall of 2009...right before Alabama won their 13th national championship.  The houndstooth look is still around in high fashion and maybe it's a good luck charm for the Tide.  This look is from Erdem on netaporter.com.

lovemaegan.com tells us how to make (yes, I said "make") our very own
houndstooth shoes...

This is all enough to make me think of a couple other famous Alabamians, Forrest Gump and his shrimpin' buddy Bubba.  Instead of Shrimp Gumbo, Shrimp Etouffee, Fried Shrimp, Shrimp and Grits, shrimp, shrimp, shrimp, it's houndstooth coozy, houndstooth scarf, houndstooth door wreath, houndstooth shaker, houndstooth nail polish....

How could any stylish someone not love houndstooth?  You've got gameday style if you're wearing it, no matter what team you're cheering for.

Congratulations, Alabama, on #14!
