Trunk or Treat Tailgate

As you think about your Halloween plans for next week, I wanted to do a re-post from last October to give you some fun ideas...

When we hear Tailgate, we think football.  But parking in a lot and having a little party can happen for any occasion.  You might be in a parking lot for another reason...a Trunk or Treat tailgate.  Trunk or Treats are such a creative way to celebrate Halloween...and it's just another reason to have a tailgate party.

Back in 2006, the New York Times published a story about Trunk or Treating and refers to it as "Halloween Tailgating".  Here is their definition:

"...trunk-or-treating is the latest twist on the quintessentially American ritual of door-to-door candy-collecting, bringing Halloween from the uncertain streets to the safety of church and school parking lots, turning the backs of minivans and sport utility vehicles into the new front porch."
Referring to the back of a car as a "front porch" makes me love tailgating even more.  It's not too late to throw together a Trunk or Treat for Halloween.  Just gather your friends, find a parking lot and tell everyone to bring food and drink to tailgate (see Gameday Style's .  October 27 post).  Even though all you need is a trunk and some candy, here are some photos that might inspire you to do a little decorating for the occasion:

Impressive car decoration...very suitable for Gameday!

And here are the hows to holding a Trunk or Treat from the blog, Surviving Motherhood.

And some more lovely photos and how-tos for you from Squidoo:

Any excuse for a tailgate party, right?!

Snack on the Stadium

With bowl week upon us, I felt it "important" to re-publish October's Snack Stadiums post.  Snack Stadiums strike me as the uber-appropriate addition to a holiday gameday party.  Whip one up in the next couple weeks or start planning for a Super Bowl Snack Stadium.  Enjoy!

You are going to love this gallery of football stadiums made of  enough food for the entire party.  Holy Taco gives you the instructions to  create this beauty, complete with the dip field.  Click here for the instructions.

Now this is the time I should let you know that there is an entire website  dedicated to these pieces of edible art/architecture/engineering feat.   www.snackadium.com.  I am not making this up!   Here's what you'll see over there:

The Old Try

The regular season is over and it's time to start thinking about the season (aka bowl season).  Don't forget to check out past Gameday Style posts for more great gift ideas.
First up, is The Old Try.  I purchased this print a few months ago for my home that's trying hard to raise two gentlemen...

The Old Try has some Gameday Style in a subtle, fun and classy way.  Subtle, because you may not know what some of these designs are referring to, unless you're a devoted fan of one of these Southern schools.
