Choose Your Chili and Have a Mojito Jell-O Shot

Chili used to basically be a conglomeration of tomatoes, red beans and ground beef.  It's a great thing that we can have chili in a lot more creative, interesting ways.  Food and Wine helps us with our Super Bowl planning by giving us their own collection of chef's chili recipes. You can find the chili here: http://www.foodandwine.com/slideshows/chili-recipes Julie's Texas Style Chili with Beer (made with beef short ribs) And while you're over at Food and Wine, check out their entire Super Bowl culinary guide: http://www.foodandwine.com/super-bowl-recipes They have collections of recipes for all-things-Super-Bowl. Fun pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, wings, beer pairings, gooey party desserts, ice cream sundaes, drinks for a crowd and more. Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs with Avocado, anyone?                                      Or perhaps Cheddar-and-Onion Smashed Burgers?    Pizza with Charred Cherry Tomatoes and Pesto?  Could you please pa

Would you like some ranch dressing with your cupcake?

Looking for something fun and creative for your Super Bowl?  You might flinch when you hear the terms, Beer Cheese Cupcakes with Bacon Cheddar Cream Cheese Frosting and Buffalo Chicken Cupcakes, but these are no joke.  Think of these cupcakes not as something sweet, but as gooey loveliness to add to your gameday appetizer table.   Cupcake Project is a blog all about cakes in a cup and is the source for these savory cupcake recipes. Beer Cheese Cupcakes with Bacon Cheddar Cream Cheese Frosting Stef at the Cupcake Project  combines brown sugar, cheddar, beer and sour cream for the base.  The frosting is sweet with the yum of cheddar and bacon combined.   Beer Cheese Super Bowl Cupcake Recipe Yield: About 18 cupcakes  1 cup beer (I used Bud Select. I'm not usually a Bud gal, but they do sponsor the Super Bowl, so I had to go there.) 1 stick, plus 1 tb, unsalted butter 1 cup grated cheddar (I'd go for the good stuff here. Celebrating Houndstooth

It's been a whole week since Alabama secured their 14th national championship and Gameday Style would like to honor the Crimson Tide with some houndstooth adoration.  I love the fact that an entire fan base has embraced a classic fabric pattern from a hat and practically turned it into one of their school colors!  The beloved Bear Bryant's famous houndstooth Trilby (some say Fedora, but technically it's a Trilby) hat... Find a houndstooth huggy, Toms and rain boots at crimsonhoundsooth.com . Houndstooth flip-flops and jewels at redelephants.com Houndstooth wrapping paper, cooler carts, makeup bags, napkins and earmuffs at houndstoothhut.com Houndstooth has always been popular with Bama gals, but the fashion world took notice that it was a trend in the fall of 2009...right before Alabama won their 13th national championship.  The houndstooth look is still around in high fashion and maybe it's a good luck charm for the Tide.  This look is from Erdem on

Happy Gameday!

The Denver Broncos are playing this weekend and today's gameday vintage photo is a Broncos cheerleader circa 1960s.   Go over to SI.com for the fantastic gallery of "Cheerleaders of the 1960s"....a group of classic looking ladies (and a G.W. Bush mixed in there too). http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1005/cheerleader.1960s/content.1.html

Tackle this Pepperoni Roll

Now that we can fully concentrate on the NFL season and we are enjoying the playoffs, it's time to get serious again about lots of gameday food.   Today I want to feature a Pepperoni Roll.  I found this through Twitter from Grilling 24x7 .   Grilling 24x7 is a website dedicated to, well....grilling.  He gets this recipe from the book,   John Madden Ultimate Tailgating and even gives us instructions on re-heating the roll on the grill at the tailgate so it is piping hot at the games.  I love that for those fellas that have their grill at the stadium.  Since I'm a grill-free girl at my tailgates, this would suit my Gameday Style for after the game with my crew at home or on a Sunday afternoon at home watching some games.   love the addition of banana peppers! Ingredients: Pillsbury Pizza Dough 1/4 lb genoa salami 1/4 lb sandwich pepperoni 1/4 lb sliced mozzarella cheese 1/4 lb sliced provolone cheese Mild banana peppers ground corn meal Now head on over to  Gri
